During Labor Day weekend, many volunteers, with the professional assistance of Paul, replaced the A Overflow pipe. The old pipe was dug up (notice in the picture below how brittle it was!), a new 4' to 5' trench was dug, the new pipe was installed, and the trench was backfilled. The new pipe was filled with chlorinated water late Monday afternoon, and our water master will flush the pipe and test it before turning the water back on. The overflow pipe contributes a large percentage of our water storage, so we are grateful for the upgraded, leak-less pipe. There was left over pipe that will be stored until Forest Glen A installs their new tank and we can connect to it.
The metal lid for the vault over the connections will be done this week, and re-seeding for the disturbed area is scheduled for Saturday, September 13th, along with the cleaning and inspection of our storage tank. Please come join us :) We will meet at the tank at 10 AM. Also, please conserve water on Saturday. If everyone conserves that day, we should have enough water in the distribution lines to last until the tank refills. Worst case, we will be without water a few hours on Saturday afternoon and early evening.
